San Ignacio, CAYO. Saturday, January 16, 2016. TNC: Police say that an autopsy on the body of Anne Swaney, 39, was conducted on Friday evening.

Acting Commander of the Police’s Western Region, Superintendent Andrew Ramirez, in a brief release this morning reported that at the conclusion of the two hour long postmortem, Dr. Leyden Ken reported that Swaney was strangled to death.

Supt. Ramirez says that Dr. Ken wrote in his report that “the cause of death was asphyxia due to compression of the neck area, throttling and blunt force traumatic injuries to the head and neck.”

Police in Benque Viejo del Carmen town were reported to be interviewing a Guatemalan national who was found fishing in the area where Swaney’s body was discovered floating face down in the Mopan River on Friday morning.

The unnamed fisherman has reportedly told investigators that he had entered Belize illegally to fish, but has denied any involvement in the murder of Anne Swaney.

“We currently have him in custody and we will be pursuing an interview for him to give account of himself,” said Superintendent Daniel Arzu in an interview with Belize City-based Channel 7 News on Friday night.

So, after murdering her he calmly went on a fishing trip?
Fools….what makes you think that the murderer will stay there fishing and wait for the police to arrive?
