Missing Belize City taxi man’s body found

Belize City, BELIZE. Monday, March 13, 2017. A couple of days after he was reported missing, Belize City taxi driver 66 year old Elbert Gillett was found dead on Sunday afternoon.

Just before 4 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, police received reports of a body just off the George Price Highway at mile 5, in an area commonly known as Belizean Beach.

Due to the state of decomposition, a post mortem examination was conducted at the spot where the body was found.

At the conclusion of the port mortem, the doctor certified that cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.

Elbert Gillatt was reported missing on Friday and his vehicle was fond abandoned in Belize City and had been burnt

A motive for the murder is not known at this time and a police investigation is underway.
