Placencia, STANN CREEK. Thursday, January 28, 2016. TNC: Placencia Police today descended in numbers at several homes in Seine Bight Village for an exercise that has seemingly taken afoot in several areas of the country over the past few months.

The group of officers led by their Commander, Inspector Dennis Myles caught residents by surprise as they visited the many homes to listen to the concerns of the people in that community.

The dubbed “Meet and Greet” campaign is part of the Police Department’s new Community Policing direction, which is credited for the major reduction in crime in parts of the country in the latter part of 2015.

According to the Peninsula’s Community Policing Officer, Constable Claudius Cardinez, today’s Meet and Greet is one way of improving police and community relations on the peninsula.

This newly adopted strategy may well be the Police Departments’ greatest tool for crime fighting.

The Officer Commanding Placencia police Inspector Dennis Myles has indicated that there will be more of this on the peninsula and will be rolled out in Placencia and Maya Beach.
