Mid-week weather forecast is for improved conditions

San Ignacio Town, Cayo. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. A gusty and relatively dry east to southeasterly airflow will continue to dominate the weather over our area for at least another day or so.

Then changes will come on Thursday.

The general forecast for Belize and her coastal waters is for partly cloudy skies with isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly inland and in the southern part of the country.

Winds over the open sea and along the coast will be easterly to southeasterly at fifteen to twenty knots, with higher gusts.

The sea state will be moderate to rough.

Operators of small craft are advised to exercise caution in rough seas.

Low temperatures tonight will be around 80 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast; 74 degrees Fahrenheit inland and 70 degrees Fahrenheit up in the hills.

High temperatures on Wednesday will range from 87 degrees Fahrenheit along coastal areas, to 94 degrees Fahrenheit inland. It will be a warm 80 degrees Fahrenheit up at the exposed areas of the Mountain Pine Ridge and along the Maya Mountains in the south.

The tides: there will be a high tide at 10:58 pm. This will be followed by a low tide at 3:47 am on Wednesday.

The sun will rise at 5:18 am on Wednesday. It will set at 6:29 pm.

The extended forecast valid through to Thursday afternoon is for continuing mainly fair weather through Wednesday; but a few showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop mainly over the southern part of the country on Thursday morning.
