Boy drowns in pond in Shipyard village. Orange Walk
Boy drowns
A 10 year old boy drowned on Sunday afternoon in the Orange Walk district.
The victim has been identified as Johan Schmitt, a resident of Shipyard village.
According to police reports, Schmitt and 5 of his friends were swimming in a pond around 2 pm on Sunday when the boy went under the water and did not resurface.
His friends went to get assistance and an hour later, Johan Schmitt’s body was recovered from the bottom of the pond and transported to the Northern Regional Hospital.
Police investigations continue.
