Man dies of injuries suffered in a fall

A man has died after reportedly falling off a ladder.

The deceased has been identified as Charles Emmel, 75, an American retiree who lived in Belize City. 

According to police, Emmel’s wife reported that he left home around 7:30 am on Saturday. About an hour and a half later, the wife said she got a phone call informing her that Emmel fell off a ladder and was at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. 

When the wife visited the hospital, she found her husband undergoing treatment for 5 broken ribs and a punctured right lung.  Charles Emmel eventually succumbed to his injures.

Police say that a post mortem examination confirmed that the cause of Charles Emmel’s death was “multifocal and ventricular bilateral hemorrhage due to fall.”
