Ministry of Health to conduct training in Toledo

Health professionals in the Toledo district will undergo two days of training in disaster preparedness and relief management. 

The training, which commenced today is being carried out by the Ministry of Health along with the Pan American Health Organization.

A government statement says that the training aims to strengthen the health sector’s preparedness and response in times of emergencies and to strengthen the emergency operation enter by training personnel in incident command system and information management system.

Similar training has been carried out in Dangriga, Cayo, Corozal and Orange Walk districts. 

The cycle of training will culminate on Monday and Tuesday of next week in the Belize district. 

The training is part of the Ministry of Health’s “Disaster Risk Reduction Plan” for 2013 “where it focuses on strengthening the capacities at district level to build resilience in the health plans and response.”
