Woman dies after being knocked down; police detain motorcyclist

A Belize City woman lost her life in a road traffic incident on Tuesday night on the Phillip Goldson Highway. 

Patricia Johnson, 64, a resident of Bella Vista, Belize City, was knocked down around 7 pm Tuesday at the entrance to Bella Vista. 

Police say Jason Grant, 31, told them that he was riding his black Honda motorcycle towards the Haulover Bridge when he knocked down Johnson. 

Johnson received head and body injuries.  She was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. 

Police say they have detained grant, pending investigations.
