Santa Elena, CAYO. Saturday, April 30, 2016. There was a double-murder late this evening in Santa Elena town, Cayo.

The victims have been identified as Daisy Miralda and Miriam Mai.

According to reports, a lone gunman entered a beauty salon in Santa Elena town just before 6 pm on Saturday and fired gunshots that fatally wounded both women.

A third person, a man, was also wounded in the shooting.

He was taken first to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial in Belize City for further medical treatment.

Police investigations continue.
