A Punta Gorda man was the victim of an armed assault.

Fabian Martinez, 66, went to the police station with duct tape still attached to his neck, hands and legs and reported that he was bound and gagged during an attack late on Tuesday night.

According to Martinez, he was at work around 11:30 pm at a business establishment at the corner of Main and North Street in PG when three men approached him.

Martinez says that one of the men pointed a firearm at him and the trio proceeded to put duct tape around his mouth, both hands and his legs.

Police reports say that the attackers then searched Martinez and took his cell phone.

After the assault, Martinez was placed on the verandah of the building and the men reportedly left through the back of the building.

After managing to free himself, Martinez went to the police station around 2:20 am on Wednesday, with the duct tape still attacked to his neck, hands and feet.

Police say Martinez told them that he heard a vehicle speeding off from the area.
