Armed Robbery On Hummingbird Highway

There was an armed robbery at a business place on the Hummingbird Highway on Monday evening.

Police are now just reporting that it happened at Tienda Saravia Shop located at mile 15 on the Hummingbird Highway.  Reports are that a salesman for BeefMaster/Kerbo Farm Ltd went to Tienda Saravia to make a delivery.

Police say that when Kirk Hower, 24 arrived, he and the driver observed that the shop was closed.

Hower was reportedly in the process of inquiring from neighbors about the closure of the shop when he was alerted of someone behind him.  Police say two masked men of clear complexion accosted Hower and the driver.

One of the robbers, according to police, carried a machete which he was held to the driver’s neck, and the other who had what appeared to be a shotgun, demanded money.

Fearing for his live, the salesman said that he handed over a black waist bag containing $2,575, being the proceeds of the day’s sales.

Police investigations continue.
