Dangriga Town, Stann Creek. Thursday, June 11, 2015. The Election and Boundaries Department today announced logistical details regarding next month’s Bye-Election to choose a new area representative for the Dangriga constituency.

The seat became vacant when the incumbent Ivan Ramos of the People’s United Party (PUP) resigned on Monday.

 

A Writ of Election issued by Governor General Sir Colville Young, has named Wednesday, July 8 as the date for the Bye-Election.

According to the Election and Boundaries Department, nomination of candidates to contest the Bye-Election will take place between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm on Monday, June 22.

The Dangriga Town Hall has been designated as the venue for the acceptance of persons nominated to contest the Bye-Election.

So far, the United Democratic Party’s declared standard bearer is Frank Mena.

For the People’s United party, the declared standard bearer is Anthony Sabal.

The Election and Boundaries Department press release says that only persons who registered on or before May 20 will be eligible to vote in next month’s Bye-Election.

The Register of Voters for the Dangriga Electoral Division, which includes the villages of Hope Creek and Sarawee, is now available for perusal by all registered voters at the Election and Boundaries office in Dangriga town.
