Man charged after he allegedly had sexual intercourse with teenage girl

Police in the Belize district have arrested and charged a man for the crime of carnal knowledge, allegedly for having sexual intercourse with a 13 year old girl. 

The child, a resident of La Democracia village went to the Family Violence Unit on Queen Street in Belize City on Sunday morning to report that the incident happened on Saturday morning in Mahogany Heights village. 

The teenage girl told police that around 11 am on Saturday, she was at the bus stop in La Democracia village where she met a man she knew as Jose David Funez. 

The girl says that she and Funez boarded a passenger bus to Belize City but that upon reaching Belize City, Funez asked her to go with him to a house on George Street. 

No one was at the George Street house, and so the girl told police that Funez then asked her to accompany him to Mahogany Heights, where the man reportedly took the girl to his home where they engaged in sexual intercourse. 

Police say a medical examination of the minor certified that she was carnally known. 

Police have since arrested 32 year old Jose David Funez for the crime of “Carnal Knowledge of a female Child under the age of 14.”
