Murder In Belize City

Gun Voilence in Belize city has taken another life.

Left another family mourning and the police investigating the homicide.

Leon Giovanni Smith,28, died a few hours after he was shot as he rode his bicycle on Ebony Street.

Police went to the emergency ward at the KHMH where they saw Smith with gunshot wounds to the left side of the chest, upper part of his back and buttocks.

Also seen at the emergency ward was 54years old Brenda Harmond and authorities say that she had been grazed to the right side of her stomach.

Innitial investigation by police revealed that as Smith rode his bicycle on Ebony Street, he was accosted by a man who fired several shots in his direction hitting him multiple times.

Police say that after shooting Smith the gunman turned his weapon and fired a single shot at the front door of Harmond’s house, Grazing her. 

Smith died while undergoing surgery around 11:10pm on sunday.

Police say they have since recovered four 9 millimeter shell and one live round of the same caliber ammunition form the sceen of the crime and the investigation continues.
