No one was seriously hurt when a passenger bus heading from Dangriga town to Belmopan went off the Hummingbird Highway near Armenia village early this morning.

The incident happened around 7:30 am.  Both the bus and the Tacoma were heading in the same direction.

A witness to the incident says that the driver of the bus, Calbert Williams, was continuously honking the bus’ horn when he observed the Tacoma swerving across the road after trying to overtake the bus.

It appears that the driver of the Tacoma lost control of the vehicle and clipped the left side of the bus.

The bus driver Calbert Williams, is being credited with saving the lives of his passengers by steering the bus off the side of highway and bringing it to a stop, although he landed in a deep drain.

A police officer who was on board the passenger bus at the time of the incident took control of the scene and secured statements until a police mobile unit and officers of the traffic department arrived on the scene.
