Belmopan, CAYO. Tuesday, March 22, 2016. A Corporal of Police and two constables are facing criminal charges and internal disciplinary action following a report that the law enforcement officers brutally assaulted two teenage boys.

The incident happened around five thirty on Sunday morning in the nation’s capital.

The boys, one sixteen and the other fifteen years old, say they were jolted out of their sleep by the breaking down of their bedroom door.

The boys say that two men, one dressed in a police regular uniform, burst into the room and mercilessly attacked them, kicking and punching them.

The result of the vicious assault is that the fifteen year old boy sustained a fractured skull, while the sixteen year old sustained cut wounds over the right eye and abrasions to the back and chest area.

An official police report says that the attack inside their bedroom was not all that the boys had to endure as they were again beaten up as they were being transported to the Belmopan police station.

The Commander of the Western Region, Superintendent Andrew Ramirez has confirmed that Police Constables Jose Uh and Emerciano Alcoser, both twenty six years old, have been arrested and charged for the crimes of wounding and common assault.

Thirty one year old Corporal Edwin Marin has been jointly charged with the constables for the crime of common assault.

All three police officers have been placed on interdiction from duties pending the outcome of the criminal cases.

Superintendent Ramirez reminds the general public of the police department’s zero tolerance for police abuse as is evidenced by the swift action taken to detain the officers pending criminal charges.
